
History
The firm was originally established in 1905 by Ahmed S. Moloobhoy as a ship breaking and general shipchandling concern serving on a regular contract basis the various Indian and International shipping lines, the Navy, Port Trusts and major shipyards.
The firm was awarded certificates of merit from companies including The Anchor Line, Cunard White Star, Mazagon Dock, Scindia Steam Navigation Company, H.M.I. Naval Dockyard, etc.
During World War II, the firm serviced various sectors of the armed forces and was awarded a certificate of efficiency from H.M. Victualling Depot. The firm has been a registered supplier and contractor to the Shipping Corporation of India Limited (SCI) since its inception and to the Mogul Line for several decades prior to its merger with SCI.
The firm has been represented on the ISI (Indian Standards Institution) Marine Instruments & Safety Aids Sectional Committee since its inception and is a member of the International Ship Suppliers Association (ISSA) , Mumbai Bonded Stores Suppliers Association and Small Scale Ship Repairers Association.
The firm is also certified by the Lloyds Register of Quality Assurance (LRQA) under the terms set out by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) Scheme to the ISO-9002 Quality System on all-India basis.
As distributors of Pains Wessex marine pyrotechnics, the firm was commemorated in 1982, 1987, 1990, 1991 and 1996 for sales achievements.
At the threshold of its second centenary in operation, the focus is on value added services and reliability.
